Squish IDE 8.1.0 is now available in Chinese

In China, with approximately 1.35 billion native speakers, many industries rely on Squish to automate GUI testing and enhance software quality. To ensure a more comfortable and localized experience for users, the latest Squish release includes the Squish IDE in Simplified Chinese.

When your operating system is set to a Chinese locale, the Squish IDE will automatically launch in Simplified Chinese. Alternatively, you can manually select your preferred language by starting the Squish IDE with a command line argument.

On Linux you can start the Squish IDE in the following way:

squishide –nl zh

And on Windows it would look like this:

squishide.exe -nl zh

Where the value for the command line argument -nl is a common language code identifier. If you want to run the Squish IDE in English on a system with Chinese locale, use en language code. The English language will also remain the fallback language for Operating Systems with not (yet) supported languages.

The translation is an ongoing process, and we are closing in at around 70% of the Squish IDE. For the Eclipse RCP we use the translations of the Babel Project [1] and for all our own plugins we translate all user-visible strings ourselves. In the future, it will be possible to add more languages. Should you spot a mistake in translation do not hesitate to contact our support.

We are going to continue translating and improving present translations in coming releases.
