Sunniwell Co., Ltd, a Beijing-based solution provider of digital multimedia Set-Top Boxes (STBs) has used Qt to build the user interface (UI) for its latest hotel infotainment system.
As chic boutique lodgings and four and five star hotels aim to provide the very best in customer service, infotainment services are becoming the must-have ‘digital concierge’ addition to rooms that need to provide a new level of wow-factor.
Scheduled to be showcased at Sunniwell’s exhibition stand (#73) at the IPTV World Forum event taking place in London’s Olympia from the 23-25 March, this multi-function in-room terminal offers guests a Qt-powered welcome screen from which they can select services such as Video on Demand, television, a hotel services catalog and even information about the hotel surroundings and location.
An increasing number of companies are using Nokia Qt Framework’s technology to build highly intuitive user interfaces in home and commercial media products. Software developers and designers in this space are challenged with the need to create a UI that is simple, usable, responsive and engaging – all factors that the Qt framework is known to deliver effectively in.
Sunniwell needed to create a UI that was both complex in form and function, yet simple in its delivery so that any guest could understand the operational parameters of the system. Using Qt productively in this regard meant that Sunniwell had to explore the full breadth of the tools on offer.
Having developed this product successfully, we are confident that more electronics and media equipment manufacturers will adopt Qt as their framework of choice for the next generation of their products.
Come and visit Sunniwell’s stand to get a demo of the product and get a taste of the 21st century’s coolest hotel experience for yourself. For more info on Qt in this market segment and to see more Qt success stories, visit our Qt in Use page.
